Flambee day

Yesterday in class was flambee day, where we made banana foster (the BEST dessert in the world). Another super simple dessert.

-Place butter and brown sugar in pan and let melt together

-Put bananas in and cook for about 30 seconds (for harder bananas cook longer)

-Remove from flame, quickly put banana liquer in pan and return to flame (needs to be really quick)

-Wait for fire to die down and remove from flame again and quickly put rum or other alcohol in and return to flame (again, needs to be done quickly)

-wait for flame to die down and serve over ice cream and enjoy :)

video will be posted later.

Baked Alaska and Ice Cream Bombes

Hello food lovers,

Today in school we made baked Alaska and ice cream bombes (pictures will be up of the ice cream bombe, forgot to take some of the baked Alaska. They both are the same thing, the only difference between both of them is that a Baked Alaska is covered in meringue, and a bombe is covered in any other type of covering.

The basic elements of both desserts are ice cream or sorbet  and a thin layer of cake.
To assemble:
1) Fill a bombe bowl ( for a big one) with one type of softened ice cream and place a smaller bowl in the middle and freeze until hardened.

2) After hardened, pop smaller bowl out and place a different flavor (and preferably another color) ice cream in the middle. Cover with a thin layer of cake and cake round and freeze.

3)to remove from from the mold, run hot water over the bottom and push to one side of the bombe.

4) put back in freezer to harden again

6) Decorate with chocolate or meringue and enjoy

Top: Baked Alaska
Bottom: Bombe
I did not make either one of these. I found these on google.
to make mor than two layers, just keep layering bowls and ice creams
